# Break down the learning content

How much information should a deck or card contain?

What used to be analog self-written flashcards are now appealing and multimedia learning apps.

# Microlearning

_ovos play_ follows the microlearning principle: knowledge is divided into small units. This motivates learners to engage with the content, as it can be learned "bit by bit" and regardless of location - e.g. on the way to school or work. Small learning successes are achieved quickly, which in turn motivates learners to continue learning and thus promotes sustainable knowledge acquisition. Interactive and playful elements also encourage attention.

**Prof tips:**

- Break down the learning content as small as possible; according to the principle of "one piece of information per flashcard and one aspect of extensive learning content per deck".

- Too many flashcards per deck can be overwhelming and miss the point of microlearning. As a guideline, create approx. 10 to 15 cards per deck.

- Integrate a mixture of content cards (_text + image_, _text + fold-out_) and interactive cards such as task cards (_multiple choice_, _fact or fiction_, etc.) or survey cards.

**Example:**

Forklift driver's license: _Text + image_, _Assignment_, _Multiple Choice_
