For a long time it was the case that both Apple and Google received 30 % of every app purchase or in-app purchase. For a few years now, however, it has been possible to sign up for a lower levy - then the two multinational corporations "only" receive 15 % of the turnover. So if you already earn more than 1 million dollars in app sales, congratulations - but this guide is no longer for you.
Join Apple's "Small Business Program"
In order to join you must
be the "Account Holder"
accept the most recent "Paid Apps" contracts here
and name other associated developer accounts, if any exist.
When all this has happened, go to this link. If you are already registered, the account information is already filled in.
Under "Paid Applications Aggreement" you must answer "Yes, I have accepted".
Under "Associated Developer Accounts" you must answer the four questions honestly. If Apple recognises that you have answered incorrectly, it can, in the worst case, remove the app or block the account.
Afterwards, you still have to tick the paragraph in the grey box "To the best of your knowledge..." and then click on Submit.
🍎 If you make more than 1 million US dollars in turnover in one year, the fees for the entire turnover are increased to 30%.
Reduce the service fee at Google to 15%
To officially enroll for the 15% service fee tier, you must:
Have a payments profile;
create an Account Group (of which your Developer Account is the Primary Developer Account) and let us know whether or not you have any Associated Developer Accounts (ADAs); and
accept the Terms of Service for the 15% service fee tier.
To enroll for the 15% service fee:
Open Play Console and go to the Associated developer accounts page.
Follow these instructions to create an Account Group and let us know whether or not you have any ADAs.
When you've finished setting up your Account Group, you can enroll for the 15% service fee on the Associated developer accounts page. You'll see a banner on the page with the heading, "When you've finished setting up your account group, enroll for the 15% service fee." Underneath, click Review and enroll.
Important: Your account group must include all of your ADAs before you enroll. You won't be able to enroll if you have requests that you haven't responded to or if some Developer Accounts haven't responded to your request to add them to your account group. Learn more about managing requests here.
Read and accept the 15% service fee Terms of Service.
Click Accept and enroll.
🤖 After enrolling, the first million US dollars in turnover is always subject to a 15% fee, but everything above that is subject to a 30% fee.
